If you are both serious beer buffs or just fancy doing something unusual with your spare time together then this tour of the Wadworth Brewery is ideal, join your guide and tour group and you’ll take a booze related journey from 1875 right through to the present day.
Discover traditional brewing skills and appreciate cask ales at their best as you enjoy an extensive tour of the Victorian tower buildings, starting in the Visitor Centre. You’ll gain knowledge of the Wadworth history and heritage as you learn about the unique, traditional skills that the brewery still practices today. Follow the interesting gravitational brewing process down through four floors and round off your tour with a tasty selection of Wadworth cask ales. There’ll be a question and answer session and you’ll be presented with six handcrafted Wadworth beers each and a branded Wadworth bag to take home.
The two of you will be welcomed by your guide into the Visitor Centre, where you will set off for your interesting 90 minute tour. Your Wadworth journey will begin with an introduction to the brewery, followed by a climb to the top of the Victorian tower. You will then follow the gravitational brewing process down through the levels of the brewery, viewing the Mash Tuns, Hop Back and original open Copper on your way through.
You’ll make your way to the Cooperage where you will see where the wooden casks are handcrafted*, followed by a short stroll to the award winning Shire Horses and stables*. Take a look around the Sign Writing Studio where signs for all 250 Wadorth pubs are hand painted in the traditional way. Once you have experienced the science and skill that go into the making of the beers, you are invited for a tutored beer tasting session. You will enjoy a range of Wadworth cask ales, and take part in a Q&A session with your guide. You’ll head home with your choice of six handcrafted beers each and a Wadworth branded bag, there is also opportunity to visit the Brewery Shop.
