Discover what it takes to be a helicopter pilot with the fantastic Helicopter Pilot Experience with Lunch. You will spend half a day with qualified pilots, who will show you around the hangars and give a presentation on helicopter career options in case you want to follow the dream after you’ve tried it.
After a full introduction to the controls and a safety briefing, you will take a seat in the helicopter with a Licensed Helicopter Instructor for a 15 to 20 minute one-to-one lesson where you will take the controls. You will enjoy taking on the challenge of hovering with full tuition and experience for yourself what it is like to be in control of an aircraft. You will also enjoy a buffet-style lunch during this experience that will see you well on your way to becoming a real helicopter pilot.

What happens on the day?
On arrival at your chosen location you will be greeted and provided with refreshments and a full introduction to your experience by a CAA Licensed Helicopter Instructor. Then, before you get to your flying lesson, you will be presented with helicopter pilot career paths, so you can see the options available.
Once in the helicopter you will enjoy a one-to-one flying lesson with a qualified pilot. Afterward you have taken on the skies you will enjoy a light lunch in the form of a buffet style lunch or a £5 voucher to spend in the airfield cafe or restaurant and a guided tour of the hangars, a discussion around the aircraft on site or an apron tour (depending on the location). You will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions and learn all about commercial piloting and helicopter types.
Your voucher is valid for 9 months from the date of issue
- Minimum age: 12 (Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult)
- Minimum height: 5ft
- Maximum height: 6ft 2in
- Maximum weight: 15 stone
- You should not take part if you suffer from epilepsy, vertigo or are pregnant
- You should be in reasonable health, if you have any disability or illness that may prevent you from taking part then you must discuss this with the centre before booking
- This experience is not suitable for spectators as participants can only be seen on the take off and landing
- The experience content, equipment used and restrictions may vary according to location
Your voucher is valid for nine months from the date of issue, kindly note that you must have booked and taken your experience before your expiry date.
Flights take place on selected weekends and occasional midweek dates throughout the year, Saturdays are limited due to their popularity.
We recommend you book at least eight weeks in advance to ensure that dates are available. All bookings are subject to availability.
You should allow approximately 4 hours for the whole experience. The flying lesson itself will last approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
What about insurance?
The centres contracted with us hold public liability insurance. We also hold contingency liability cover. You will not be liable for accidental damage to equipment, except where damage has been caused as a result of recklessness or wilful negligence.
A cancellation indemnity, subject to terms, is included with every voucher.
How it works
All you have to do is pay for the experience you wish to purchase and we’ll send a voucher and booking information to you or directly to the recipient, then you just need to check the info and book your experience.
