Overview
Located in the East Sussex countryside just outside Hastings is a long-established, friendly and family-run vineyard. They have decades of experience dedicated to perfecting the art of producing award winning English Wine. All of the vines planted in the 37 acre vineyard are individually tended by hand. With this tour and tasting you will get a fascinating insight into the world of English wine production, including the history of winemaking. You will enjoy an interesting and entertaining tour of the vineyard where you will be shown a variety of vines and how they are trained to grow before visiting the bottling plant. With this tour you will also get to taste some of the vineyard’s best wines.

What happens on the day
On arrival at the vineyard, you will be asked to register before being introduced to your tour guide. The experienced tour guide will lead you out into the vineyard for an overview of English wine production, the different wine varieties they grow and how the vineyard differs from continental vineyards. They will discuss the problems they encounter with weather, disease, pruning and harvesting. You will also visit the winery and bottling plant where you will discover the secrets of the winemaking process from the arrival of the grapes, to the bottling of the finished wine. They will also explain how sparkling wine is produced, what ‘methode champenoise’ means and how they tilt and turn wine in order to extract sediment. This first part of the tour will take place inside in the event of inclement weather. After the tour, you will accompany the guide to the tasting room where several of the award winning wines can be appreciated and any additional questions you may have can be answered. Before you leave don’t forget to visit the shop for the opportunity to purchase some wine to take away with you.

The experience is available on selected weekends and weekdays until 1st July 2012. Exclusion dates such as Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter and Father’s Day may apply

Please allow between 2 hours for the whole experience, the tour will last approximately 1½ hours. Guests are asked to arrive 20 minutes before the start of the tour to register

There is some slightly uneven ground in the vineyard, occasional steps and one flight of stairs to the tasting room
